Abstract


Nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative force in agriculture,offering innovative solutions to address critical challenges in food production,sustainability, and resource management. This comprehensive overviewexplores the multifaceted impact of nanotechnology on agriculture, providinginsights into its potential to revolutionize the sector and by elucidatingthe fundamental principles of nanotechnology and its applicability inagriculture, emphasizing nanomaterials’ unique properties that enableprecise manipulation at the molecular and nanoscale levels. It exploresdiverse applications, including nanoparticle-based nutrient deliverysystems, nanoencapsulation for controlled release of agrochemicals, andthe development of nanosensors for real-time monitoring of crop health andenvironmental parameters. Furthermore, this delves into the emerging fieldof precision farming enabled by nanotechnology, where data-driven decisionmaking and targeted interventions optimize resource utilization, minimizeenvironmental impacts, and maximize crop yields. It examines the potential ofnano pesticides in integrated pest management, highlighting their eco-friendly nature and reduced environmental contamination. Nanotechnology’s role insoil management and remediation is also discussed, showcasing its capacityto improve soil health, remediate contaminated lands, and enhance nutrientavailability. The review sheds light on the application of nanofertilizers,which not only enhance nutrient use efficiency but also mitigate nutrientrunoff, contributing to sustainable agriculture. While nanotechnology holdsimmense promise, it is imperative to consider safety and environmentalimplications. This examines the challenges and regulatory considerationssurrounding the use of nanomaterials in agriculture, emphasizingthe need for responsible development and rigorous risk assessment.
