The Agricultural College Day and Confrence of 1937

Abstract

The twenty-sixth College Day and Conference annually organised by the Madras Agricultural Students Union was held at the Research Institute,Coimbatore on the 22nd and 23rd of this month under the Presidency of Diwan Bahadur S.E.Ranganathan AvlVice Chancellor of the Madras University The conference was attended by the Directors of Public Instruction,and of Agriculture,Madras several Deputy and Assistant Directors of Agriculture,District Educational Officer.Coimbatore and by a few members of the Legislative Assembly.Mr.R.C.Broadfoot,the Principal of the Agricultural College and the exofficio President of the Union.welcomed the guests in a neat little speech.After the reding of the messages from a number of members and well wishers of the Union,the secretary presented the report of the managng committee for the year 1936-37.The president after presenting medals and prizes to the winners.delivered an interesting speech in the course of whihhe dwelt onafew important aspects of 'Rural reconstruction.which formed the subject of the symposium arranged for discussion at the Conference Twelve paper were presented by actual workers in the field as well as by persons who had bestowed some thoughts on this important topic of the day.An interesting and instructive discussion followed in which many took a vote of thanks proposed by the Director of Agriculture , Madras and the Vice President of the Union.
