Abstract


Studies were conducted at the research farm. Meerut University, Meerut in Kharif 1973 and 1974. to find out the effect of nitrogen and legume associations on growth and dry matter accumulation of ruinfed maize, Growing of greengram. blackgram and cowpea has stimulating effect on maize growth and ite dry matter accumulation. The effects of legume on growth of maiza were more apparent at later stage at maize life cyclo, Application of nitrogen was found essential for the better growth of maize grawn alther alone or in association with legumes, However the emount of nitrogen required for better growth depends upon rainfall distribution of two years.
