Introduction :The occurrence of a virus disease of groundnut in the Madras State was first repor -ted by Sundararaman (1926)at Palu Agricultural Experiment Station and he named it as "clump disease".As very little in known about the various aspects like transmission,mode of spread, influ - ence of various agronomic practices like manuring .spacing,roughing,weeding etc.on the incidence of rosette disease occuring in Madras State,a scheme was the financial assistance of Indian Central Oilseeds Committee.The pattern of sprad of rosette disease and the assessment of crop loss due to rosette disease were dealt in the previous two papers(1965&1967).This paper deals with the diffe- rent modes of transmission of the disease.
