EDITORIAL NOTES

Abstract

Our-Viceroy: Our readers will remember that this Union sent a message of welcome to His Excllency Lord Irwin on the 4th April 1926 on his arrival at Bombay. His active interest in agriculture, the several speeches and references he has made on this subject in the Council Chambers at Delhi and Simla, and at the investiture ceremonies in the several durbars, his institution of prizes for boys-all show his keen interest. It is understood that he visits Mysore and he may probably also spend a day or two on the Nilgiris. It is likely that His Excellency may visit in this tour one or two nearer places in Madras and we hope Coimbatore will be one. It is no exaggeration if we say that, possessing Agricul-tural and Forest Colleges, which train students for development work in this country, Coimbatore does not yield in importanee to any presidency town. In fact, it enjoys a very pleasant climate which will be lovely at the time of His Excellency's visit to Oota-camund. We hope His Excellency will find enough in these two institutions to strengthen his own conviction that Agriculture and Forests are the main-stay of this country, and will be tempted to include these two institutions in his programme.
